This is in this thread and not the Sky thread because it is about watching Sky Go on a laptop.
Anyone know what is going on at Sky? I tried to watch the Spurs v West Brom game on my Mac laptop, but on both Firefox and Safari I got a message along the lines of ‘can’t open addresses starting with sky.go’ or ‘there is no program associated with this protocol’.
Finally, I spent ten minutes digging out an old PC laptop and saw most of the match. When it was obvious that Spurs were going to win, I stopped watching the game and rang Sky.
I won’t go into the frustrations of actually getting through to speak to someone, especially as all the possible topics, including Sky TV, Accounts & Billing, Sky Broadband etc don’t include Sky Go, and when your call is answered you are expected to ‘say in a few words’ what you are calling about - it hardly ever works - but I finally got through to the technical department.
They told me there is an issue with Sky Go affecting all platforms on all tablets. I said I was watching on a Mac laptop. Those too, he said. What about PC laptops? I asked. Those, too, he said, all platforms, all browsers and all devices.
Well, I didn’t bother telling him that I had actually managed to get use a PC laptop, but I’ve got to say this, the lack of listing Sky Go as a topic to talk about, Sky’s bloody awful voice recognition system make me wonder just how hard they are trying. Just as it used to be with BT, my heart sinks every time I know I’m going to have to contact Sky.

    Sky Go is hopeless on any modern PC/Mac, they still use the obsolete Microsoft Silverlight platform which isn't supported by the latest browsers (Firefox will cease support by March, if they haven't already).
    Until Sky move on from Silverlight then it will continue to be a problem.

    The odd thing is that I have successfully used this particular Mac, the last time according to settings on Dec 18.

    Sky are close to releasing a new HTML player probably as early as March.

    Yep, Microsoft's Silverlight and Adobe's Flash (double :eek::eek:) are well beyond their sell by date and the move to HTML5 players can't come a moment too soon.

    Delete the app, reboot, install again from here post 5. Worth a try.

Trying to watch Sky Go on my iPad 2 at work in Central London, when I choose to watch a show it comes up with:

It works fine at home in Kent, I'm able to watch and download, however after calling Sky they recommend me using the settings on the iPad to change the location.

My issue is the Sky Go App isn't showing up on the settings page and not sure what else to do. The settings on the App is showing London/Kent.


My phone works perfectly well - I can watch and download without any problem using the same wifi connection. Mac os x performance test software free.
