Find My is automatically installed with macOS Catalina. It's available on the Mac Dock and in the Applications folder. Use the app to track your friends on devices.

Tracking your friends with Find My on Mac

On the People screen, you'll see a listing of people you've been given access to track.

1. Open the Find My app on Mac.
2. Click the People tab.

3. Select the person on the left side of the screen to track. You can view a person on three maps: default, hybrid, and satellite.

4. Click - and + to change the size of the map.

5. Select the location icon to find your current location on the map.

6. Click Share My Location to send your current location to someone new.
7. In the To box, type in the name of the person you wish to share your location.
8. If the person isn't in your Contacts app, add them in the pop-up menu.

9. Once the new person(s) has been added, select Send.

Google faces privacy lawsuit over tracking users in apps without consent

Law firm Boies Schiller Flexner has filed another lawsuit against Google. This time, the law firm has accused Google of tracking users in apps even after opting out.

Apple's iOS 13 brought with it several new features but there is one change you may not have realised was going to happen until you couldn't find what you were looking for any longer: Find My Friends has gone.

If you use the Find My Friends app, you will have noticed the orange icon with the two people side-by-side has vanished from your home screen.

Open the Find My app and you'll see three tabs at the bottom of your display. You'll see the two people that originally symbolised the Find My Friends app logo in the bottom left corner. Tap on this tab and you'll find the list of your friends and family that you have shared location data with.

You can also track a friends location - who you share location data with - through Messages. Open Messages > Tap on your the chat with the friend you want to track > Tap on the circular icon above their name at the top of your display > Tap on Info > A map of their location will appear at the top.
